We are excited to announce a new partnership with The NYU Music and Social Change Lab who will help us explore ways to bring positive social change through music to the community of Cuban musicians and presenters on the Island. The Lab will support our promotional activities in the USA and host conversations with students, faculty and artists in New York City about the musical links with the Manana.
Lab Director, Professor Carlos Chirinos, on the partnership:
"We are delighted to be partnering with the first Electronic and Afro-Cuban Folkloric Music Festival in Cuba at a time when relationships between the US and the Island are starting to open up. This is a great opportunity to promote Cuban music and culture to American youth to help reestablish social relations with the island that have been frozen for over 50 years as a result of the economic embargo. The timing of the festival is perfect and we welcome this association to bring NYU students closer to Cuba's musical landscape."
The NYU Music and Social Change Lab is based at the Music Business Program, Department of Music and Performing Arts Professions, NYU Steinhardt.
